Barbara Mae (Braman) Pearce of Belpre, Ohio, passed away peacefully Nov. 15, 2008 at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
She was born December 7, 1932, to the late Burl and Kathleen Braman.
As a homemaker she was an avid cook and an accomplished seamstress. She also enjoyed tending to her African violets and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bernard D. Pearce; one son, Jonathon Jay Pearce and wife, Tamie of Belpre, Ohio; one daughter, Angelique Ann (Pearce) Pierce and husband, Michael of Broomfield, Colorado; a brother, Donald E. Braman and wife, Mary of East Jordan, Michigan; a sister Beverly (Braman) Fisher of Rockford, Michigan; seven grandchildren, Suzanne M. (Pearce) Seldess and husband, Zachary, Christopher C. Pearce and wife, Rachel, Brian D. Pearce, Jason E. Pierce and wife, Valerie, Charity S. Pierce, Benjamin D. Pierce, and Hannah K. Pierce; and two great-grandchildren, Hunter J. Pierce and Noah E. Pierce.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by an infant daughter.
Private arrangements were made by her family at her request.

Robert E. Daley, 80, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away Nov. 13, 2008, at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio.
He was born Nov. 22, 1927, in Wood County, W.Va., a son of the late Clarence W. and Luella Deem Daley.
Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, co-owner of City Ice Company, member of the VFW and attended Pleasant View Church.
He is survived by one daughter, Cynthia Damiano of Pennsylvania; two sons, Rodney (Kathy) Daley of North Carolina and Daniel (Donna) Daley of Parkersburg, W.Va.; five sisters, Betty Taylor of Parkersburg, W.Va., Donna Wigal, Vera O'Brien and Delores Graham, all of Florida, and Linda Townsend of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two brothers, Tom Daley and Kenny Daley, both of Parkersburg, W.Va.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy A. Balser Daley; one sister, Grace Atkinson; and two brothers, Clarence and Paul Daley.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va., with Pastor Jerry Caplinger and Pastor Loyd Winans officiating. Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Carl R. Proffitt, 89, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away on Nov. 10, 2008, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug. 2, 1919, a son of the late James R. and Daisy Myrtle Knox Proffitt in Portland, Ohio.
He was owner and operator of Carl R. Proffitt Trucking Company. He attended Grace Gospel and Faith Baptist Church. He was a member of the Teamster Local 175. His hobbies included fishing and working on lawn mowers.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Orma K. Thompson Proffitt; one daughter, Linda (Bob) Smith; one son, James (Kate) Proffitt, both of Parkersburg, W.Va.; four grandchildren, James Proffitt Jr., Tim (Nancy) Proffitt, Robin (Jurgen) Blugel and Scott (Deana) Smith; 10 great-grandchildren, Justin, Jacob, Katie, Lauren, Lindsay and Kelsay Proffitt, Chelsea and Andy Gainer, Tiffani and Ben Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va., with Pastor Jim Yoak officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank Arlene Flinn, who helped care for Carl at his home, and the staff and nurses at Sunbridge Care Home and Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

Annie Jane Lemley, 86, of Vienna, W.Va., went home to be with her Lord on Nov. 8, 2008.
She was born Feb. 28, 1922, in Wood County, W.Va., a daughter of the late George and Iva Smith Chambers. Annie Jane graduated from Camden Clark School of Nursing in 1944 and went to work immediately for Dr. F.L. Blair, for whom she worked 41 years and continued to work for Parkersburg Medical Associates until her retirement in 1985. Annie Jane was a 60-year member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and a member of the Wayside United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son, Thomas Lemley of Philadelphia; her daughter, Julie Thorn and husband Jim of Vienna, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Brandon M. Thorn and wife Jenni of Vienna, W.Va. and Kristen Lemley of Altanta, Ga.; two great-grandchildren, Jocelynn and Tori Thorn; one brother, Norman Chambers and wife Hopie of Parkersburg, W.Va.; Thomas Sams, whom was like a son to her and wife, Karen and their children, Cody and Kaylie of Texas; one niece, Nancy O'Brien of Mt. Pleasant, Mich.; one nephew, David Chambers and wife Diane of Vienna, W.Va.; and special caregiver, Eula Jenkins of Williamstown, W.Va.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert E. Lemley; and two brothers, Burgess and Banard Chambers.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 3005 Grand Central Ave .Vienna, W.Va. with Pastor Sandy Runion officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Lawrence E. "Mack" Pitts, 84, formerly of Vienna, passed away Nov. 6, 2008, at the Sunbridge Care Facility, Parkersburg.
He was born April 1, 1924, in Shirley, W.Va., a son of the late Floid B. and Mary L. George Pitts. He retired from the former Rockway/Universal Glass as a laborer and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a U.S. Army Corporal veteran.
He is survived by two nephews, Stephen Pitts and wife, Myra, and their children, David and Stacie, and Scott Pitts and his child, Ashlee, all of Vienna.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John Pitts and Benton Pitts; and one sister, Ruby Greathouse.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday November 10 2008 at Evergreen South Cemetery with Mr. Dave Cumpston officiating. Full military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg.
Lambert-Tatman Funeral and Cremation Services, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Robert L. Thomas, 70, of Slate, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord Nov. 7, 2008.
He was born Oct. 27, 1938 in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of the late Charles E. and Daisy Taylor Thomas. Robert was retired from G.E. Plastics in 1993. He was a Christian by faith and enjoyed attending revival services at different churches. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cheering for his two favorite football teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers and WVU Mountaineers, and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Marie Thomas; two sons, Richard Thomas and wife Brenda of Mineral Wells, W.Va. and Daniel Thomas and wife Jennifer of Vienna, W.Va.; seven grandchildren, Richard Phillip Thomas, Joey, Rita, Ranessa and Rachel Thomas, Donald Burroughs and wife Kelly , and Amanda Burroughs; three great-grandchildren, Jenny Marie, Collin James and Carly Dawn Burroughs; one brother, Charles R. Thomas and wife Linda of Boaz, W.Va.; one sister, Gloria Jean Reese and husband William of Vienna, W.Va.; one brother-in-law, Walter Grewell and his wife of Vienna; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Grewell.

Walter Eugene Snyder, 81, of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, formerly of Zephryhills, Fla., passed away Nov. 3, 2008, at the Select Specialty Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
He was born in Jackson County, W.Va., a son of the late Kenneth R. "Jake" and Bernice Hupp Snyder. Gene was a retired foreman of Weyerhaeuser, Mt. Vernon, Ohio, and Orr Felt Co. of Piqua, Ohio. He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served as a Seabee in World War II, and a past commander of Post 184 of the VFW of Piqua, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife, Lenoir O'Donnell Snyder of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; one daughter, Janet (Bob) McGinnis of Fredericktown, Ohio; one grandson, Robert Eugene McGinnis of New Castle, Ohio; two brothers, Kenneth R. "Buck" (Lola) Snyder Jr. and Jack D. (Peggy) Snyder, both of Vienna, W.Va.; and one sister, Phyllis A. Leach of Davisville, W.Va.

Robert F. Barringer, 85, of Boaz, W.Va., passed away Nov. 4, 2008, at the Marietta Center.
He was born June 11, 1923, in Wood County, W.Va., a son of the late Coley and Georgia Whitehead Barringer.
Robert was retired after 34 years of service with DuPont and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He loved golf and enjoyed fishing. He formerly attended Vienna Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Fern Marshall Barringer; two stepsons, Denver and Timothy Lee Barber, both of Cleveland, Ohio; step-grandchild, Steve Barber of Pennsylvania; three other step-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; nephew, Larry Crouser; and several other nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jake Barringer; and two sisters, Mildred Crouser and Mable Moss.

She was born June 28, 1929, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a daughter of the late Lawrence and Lona Smith Hopkins. Lillian was a homemaker and a member of the 36th Street Church of Christ in Vienna.
She is survived by her husband, Howard O. Whited, whom she married May 25, 1946; one son, Howard Wayne Whited of Parkersburg, W.Va.; three daughters, Sandra Whited of Vienna, W.Va., Regina Sturms and husband, James, of Vienna, W.Va., and Debra Brake of Parkersburg, W.Va.; brother, Donald Hopkins of Parkersburg, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Lawrence Whited.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va.. Evangelist Mark Mason and The Rev. Freer R. Mace Jr., 83, of Vienna, W.Va., passed away Nov. 3 2008, at his residence.
He was born in Akron, Ohio, a son of the late Freer R. and Pearl McPeek Mace. Mr. Mace retired as a pipefitter and enjoyed children, golf, and was an avid flyer and lover of aviation. He was known to many as the local Santa, having made appearances at the mall, numerous local events and also local parades over the years. He formerly attended Cornerstone Gospel Church of Vienna.
He is survived by two daughters, Jean Carol Hodges and husband Dwight of Brookhaven, Miss. and Deana Holbert and husband Brandon of Vienn, W.Va.; one son, Freer "Trey" Mace III and wife Barbara of Florence, Ky.; four brothers, Joe, David, Ike and Kenneth Mace; two sisters, Emma Lou Starcher and Patricia McGuinnis; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, June D. Mace in 2004; two sons, Troy Hunter Mace and Boyd Lee Mace; two sisters; and four brothers.

Kerment Miller, 90, passed away Nov. 1, 2008, at Sunbridge Nursing Facilityin Parkersburg, W.Va.
He was born Sept. 22, 1918, in Spencer, W.Va., a son of the late Lemuel and Flora Dove Nestor Miller. Kerment was a Word War II Army veteran. He retired from Kaiser Aluminum in Ravenswood, W.Va., was involved in stock car and dragster racing, and loved driving his customized Lincoln.
He is survived by his only grandchild, Jennifer Kemp and her husband, Brett, of Canton, Ohio; two brothers, Quentin and Newton Miller; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Willidean Johns Miller; his daughter, Rebecca Miller Hall; brothers, Daris, Early and Archie Miller; and sisters, Emogine Burdette and Kitty Hannaman.
Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008 at Evans Cemetery in Gay, W.Va., with Pastor Gene Hutton officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. today at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va.

Charles B. Dean, 79, of Mineral Wells, W.Va., passed away November 3, 2008, at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
He was born August 3, 1929 in Wayne Co., W.Va., a son of the late Charles and Hazel Davis Dean. He started his career with the B&O Railroad and retired from CSX after 45 years of service. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, a member of Parkersburg Masonic Lodge No. 169 A.F. & A.M., a member of the VFW Post 5575, Parkersburg, served in the US Army as a Corporal, E.G. O’Banion, 2nd Lt AGC from 1951-1953. He was a volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital over 10 years in different capacities but his greatest joy was the Cath Lab and staff. He served as an election poll worker and he loved Bluegrass music and Gospel sings and his garden that he shared with neighbors and friends.
Charles is survived by his wife of 53 years, Benita J. Maynard Dean; two sons, Charles R. “Randy” and wife, Jerry R., of Slate, W.Va., and Mark A. Dean of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; one daughter, Laura G. Dean of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Miranda Lewis and husband, A.J., Charles B. “Brew” Dean II and Macey E. Dean; one great-granddaughter, Miryan Lewis; five sisters, Pansy Crossen and husband, George of Florida, Minnie Tice and husband, Robert of Parkersburg, Lois Hatfield and husband, Fred of Kenova, W.Va., Linda Bonecutter and husband, Ronald of Gallipolis Ferry, W.Va., Connie Jolly and husband, Dwayne of Gallipolis, OH; three brothers, Howard C. She was born in Middlebourne, W.Va., a daughter of the late George W. and Merle Tustin Owens. She was a homemaker and formerly worked with Hope Gas in Clarksburg, W.Va. and America Standard in Elyria, Ohio. She was also a member of Steer Run Baptist Church and attended South Parkersburg Baptist Church.
Virginia is survived by her husband, Samuel James; one sister, Geraldine Prunty of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va., with Pastor Joe Busch officiating. She was born March 8, 1932, a daughter of the late Roy F. and Mattie Haines Ludwig in Wood County, W.Va. She was a member of the Grace Gospel Church and a graduate of Parkersburg High School, class of 1950.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Charles W. McCrady; three sons, Allen and Anita McCrady, Scott and Diane McCrady and Dana McCrady, all of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; eight grandchildren, Matt and Lynn McCrady of Buena Vista, Virginia, Amy and Jeff Mitchell of Parkersburg, W.Va., Charlie and Stacy McCrady of Beaver, Pennsylvania, Kristy McCrady of Mineral Wells, W.Va., Michelle McCrady of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Amanda McCrady of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Brandi Elkins of Charlotte, North Carolina, Justin Elkins of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; three great-grandchildren, Eli, Sophia and Brendan McCrady.

Fay Miskofsky, 93, of Parkersburg, W.Va., died Oct. 29, 2008, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital following a short illness.
She was born in Wood County, W.Va., one of a set of twins to Martin Luther and Anna Elizabeth Thomas Wolfe. She was employed by Dudley Florist for over 30 years until her retirement. She was a graduate of PHS, was an avid gardener and attended Cedar Grove United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son, William and his wife, Sandra Miskofsky, of Parkersburg, W.Va.; a daughter, Anna Rogers of Greensboro, N.C.; her twin sister, May Duffield of Parkersburg, W.Va.; a granddaughter, Stacy and her husband, Chris Taylor, of Greensboro, N.C.; three grandsons, Keith and his wife, Tracy Miskofsky, Christopher Miskofsky and John Wright, all of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one great-grandson, Shawn Taylor of Greensboro, N.C.; three great-granddaughters, Natalie, Madison and Gracyn Miskofsky, all of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and eight nieces and nephews.

Melvin E. "Gene" Maston, 83, of Vienna, W.Va., passed away Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008, at Charleston Area Medical Center.
He was born in St. Marys, W.Va., a son of the late Thomas Gale and Mary Hall Maston. He was retired from DuPont Washington Works, a member of Cross Roads United Methodist Church, enjoyed WVU sports and golfing and served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Gene is survived by his wife of 32 years, Grace Nocida Maston; one daughter, Melissa K. Maston of Georgia; two sons, Thomas W. Maston of Georgia and Jonathan P. Maston of Florida; two sisters, Opal Martin and Hazel Flower (Leo), both of St. Marys, W.Va.; and two grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Glenna Waugh Maston on July 23, 1970; one son, Richard E. Maston; two brothers, Jimmy Maston and Carlton Maston; and one sister, Ruby Gaines.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va., with the Rev. John Frum officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Lucy Edna Drake, 88, of Rockport, W.Va., passed away Oct. 25, 2008, at the Eagle Pointe Nursing Facility, Parkersburg, W.Va.
She was born July 12, 1920, in Dink, W.Va., a daughter of the late George E. and Lilly Ann Rhodes West.
Lucy was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, sewing and crocheting. She formerly attended the Little Laurel United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Wanda Joy of Rockport, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Dana E. and Harold W. Joy, Ella Sue Holiday and Edna Joann Kincaid; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daulton M. Drake in 1995.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008 at the Carl Wilson Funeral Home, 154 Main St., Clay, W.Va. Interment will follow at the Moore Cemetery, Walback, W.Va. Donald E. Full, 76, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away October 22, 2008 at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born December 7, 1931 in Wood County, W.Va., a son of the late Jesse and Ethel R. Maley Full.
He was retired with over 37 years of service from Elkem Metals, served in the Air Force, and enjoyed his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by one son, Larry D. (Patty) Full of Belleville, W.Va.; two daughters, Linda S. (Lynn) Dickel of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Lisa D. (Scott) Lamb of Richmond, Kentucky; eleven grandchildren, Heather Boggs, Holly Bohman, Jason Dickel, Stephanie Elliott, Stacie Nesselrotte, Derek Full, Kyle Full, Meredith Lamb, Lindsey Lamb, Angela Lamb and Kendall Lamb; and nine great-grandchildren, Brianna Treadway, Dalton Treadway, Bryce Treadway, Kendra Elliott, Brodie and Blake Nesselrotte, Ava and Alayna Boggs, and Emerson “Emmie” Bohman.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Janice I. Full, in 2003 and two infant sisters.

Richard K. “Rich” Bentley, age 64, of Vienna, W.Va. passed away October 10, 2008 at his residence.
He was born in South Williamson, Kentucky, a son of the late Roy Lee Bentley Sr. and Edith Mae Stair Bentley. He retired as a tour coordinator with the Blennerhassett Museum, Fort Boreman Park Board of Directors and a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon.
Rich is survived by four sisters, Betty McCoy (Glen) of Vienna, W.Va., Penny Smith of Vienna, W.Va., Brenda Sitz and Gloria J. Bentley both Avon, NC; two brothers, Paul Bentley of Vienna, W.Va. and Johnny Bentley (Emma) of Winchester, Va.; several nieces and nephews and a very dear friend, Mimi Pitts.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, and three sisters; one niece and one nephew.
Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008 at First Presbyterian Church, 1341 Juliana Street, Parkersburg, W.Va. with Paul Drake and Rev. Michael Seeley officiating. Robert “Jeff” Davis, 45, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away October 17 2008 at his residence. He was born December 28, 1963, in Parkersburg, a son of Billy C. Davis of Columbus, Ohio and the late Murlie Salyer Davis.
Mr. Davis had been employed in construction work, focusing on framing and building. He was a member of the Winding Road Church of Christ, Parkersburg, W.Va.
In addition to his father, he is survived by one sister, Tammy Pfaff of Parkersburg, W.Va.; three brothers, Ryan Davis of Columbus, Ohio, Patrick Davis and wife Kathy also of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Michael Davis of Hilliard, Ohio; and one nephew, Keegan Davis also of Columbus, Ohio.
In addition to his mother who passed away in November 1972, he was preceded in death by numerous other relatives.

He was born in Parkersburg, W.Va., on Sept. 12, 1968, a son of Harley K. and Betty J. Watson Starlin of Little Hocking.
Jerry was employed for over 10 years with the Eastland Career Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was a member of TKE Fraternity and the Porterfield Baptist Church. Jerry enjoyed the Ohio State Buckeyes, motorcycling, hunting, music, playing guitar and eating out "good food and friends."
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Jill Starlin and fiance, Joe Dennis, of Vincent, Ohio; one niece, Cassie Dennis of Vincent; Ohio, aunts and uncles, Jim and Francis Starlin, Mary and Andy Grayson, Sam and Sharon Watson, Mary Putnam and Toni Shutts; close friends, Dylan, Joe, Josh, Scott, Aaron, Craig and Melvin; and his second family, friends and co-workers.

Surviving is her husband, James F. Dehner, Sr.; one son, Michael D. Kenney of Cutler, Ohio; three daughters, Linda (Susie) Heiss, Sarah F. Delong, and Cherie J. Wittekind all of Belpre, Ohio; three sisters, Jane Stump of Wellington, Ohio, Joan Leimeister of Huron, Ohio, and Rena Catlin of Newark, Ohio; sixteen grandchildren; and twenty-six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Dick Welch.

H. R. "Pappy" Holbert, 94, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away Oct. 14, 2008, at Eagle Pointe.
He was born in Nicholas County, W.Va., a son of the late Franklin N. and Sara A. Bollinger Holbert.
He retired from Union Carbide after 25 years of service, was a lifetime member of South Parkersburg United Methodist Church where he had taught Sunday School, served on the Board of Trustees and the Pastor Parish Committee. He was known by children and adults as the "Candy Man."
He is survived by one daughter, Beverly Adams and husband, Carman, of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one grandson, Mark A. Adams and wife, Valma; five great-grandchildren, Andrea and Brian Williams, Nikki and Mark Full, Mark Adams II, Rhonda and J.D. Reed, Michael and Keri Wilburn; nine great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Mildred Holbert; an infant son; three brothers; and two sisters.

Hollis Clinton Summers, 76, of Parkersburg, W.Va., died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, at Eagle Pointe Nursing Facility from complications of Alzheimers Disease.
Hollis was born in Licking County, Ohio, on Feb. 27, 1932. He was the son of the late Frank and Esther Summers. He graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1950. Hollis served in the Air Force from July 1950 to April 1954. He retired after 35 years of service from DuPont. Hollis loved fishing, camping and gardening. He was a former member of the American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg.
He was married to the late Mrs. Sue Summers in 1954. They had four children, Doug Summers and wife, Judy, of Walnut Cove, N.C., Diane Garvey and husband, Jeff, of Parkersburg, Steve Summers and wife, Tami, also of Parkersburg, and Sheri Summers and friend, Marsha Dotson, of Pennsboro, W.Va. They have 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his children and grandchildren; his brother, Delbert (Karen) Summers of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; three sisters, Carol Summers of Utica, Ohio, and Shirley Johnson and Betty Hempfield (Ron), both of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, JoAnne Golden of Vienna, W.Va. and Barbara Bever of Chandler, Ariz.; and one aunt, Julia Jenkins of Florida.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years in 2003; one brother, Bob Summers; and one sister, Dorothy Goff.
At his request, his body has been donated to the W.Va. Gift Registry of Morgantown, W.Va. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, with the Rev. Norman Butler officiating. Graveside services will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.
He spent the last three-and-a-half years on Augustas Cottage Alzheimers Unit at Eagle Pointe Nursing Facility.

Ross H. Mellinger, 94, of Parkersburg, passed away October 12 2008.
He was born December 10 1913 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Enos and Mary (Barr) Mellinger. As a youngster, he and his family moved from their Mennonite community in rural Lancaster County to Philadelphia, where he attended public schools, graduating in 1931.
Ross was a Penn State University Forestry student and moved to West Virginia in 1934 to work with the Soil Erosion Service at Spencer. Shortly thereafter, he joined President Roosevelt’s newly formed Civilian Conservation Corps. In announcing the formation of the Corps, FDR told the nation, “I propose to create a Civilian Conservation Corps to be used in simple work; more important, however, than the material gains will be the moral and spiritual value of such work.” Ross’ lessons and endeavors in the CCC camps set him on a course of faithful, distinguishable, honorable, and professional service to his state and country as he relentlessly pursued a career in Soil Conservation and Forestry.
He retired in 1969 from the United States Department of Agriculture as Woodland Conservationist for West Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware. Often times he credited the Civilian Conservation Corps with launching his career, Throughout his service, he received many awards, including: the Governor’s Conservation Award for Forestry; the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Superior Service Award; Outstanding Performance Award and Photo Series Award. He was an accomplished writer and contributed to many state and national forestry publications throughout his career. He was a past board member of the West Virginia Board of Registration for Foresters and served as Secretary for five years. For several years following his retirement, he provided services as a consulting forester in the Parkersburg area.
In 1997, Ross was inducted into the West Virginia Agriculture and Forestry Hall of Fame. His knowledge of the woods and fields was unsurpassed and admired by all who knew him. He inspired many to engage in similar work and he set the standard for professional service. His contributions will be forever known and remembered.
Ross was an Eagle Scout, a member of Wetzel Lodge No. 39 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons in New Martinsville and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He loved the outdoors and he loved West Virginia, but above all else, he loved his family. He will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Surviving are his loving wife of seventy-three years, Madge; his children, Dorothy Jean Oliver of Parkersburg, Sharon Lee Colombo and husband Jimmy also of Parkersburg, and John Ross Mellinger and wife Carolyn of Millwood WV; nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lee.
Funeral services will be 1PM Wednesday October 15 2008 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, with Pastor Larry Dale officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8PM on Tuesday October 14 2008 at the funeral home.

Diane L. Johnson, 59, of Mineral Wells WV, passed away Sunday October 12 2008 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born December 12 1948 in Wood County, WV, a daughter of the late Roy and Glenna Carpenter.
Diane was retired after owning and operating her own stores throughout her adult life. She was a member of the Roy Johnson American Legion Post 104, and also a member of the Celebration of Life Center.
She is survived by two sons; Bruce Johnson of Mineral Wells WV and Stacy Johnson of Los Angeles CA; one amazing niece, Toni Radloff of Fennville MI; one brother, Scott Amos; one sister, Donna Owens; and three grandchildren, Joshua Taylor Johnson and Alexis Johnson, and Camron Haverty.
There will be no visitation or services. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Lambert-Tatman Funeral and Cremation Services, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg.

Lloyd P. “Boone” Hall, 65, of Parkersburg, died October 10, 2008 at his residence.
He was born at Slate, W.Va., a son of Melba Hall Allman of Parkersburg and the late Earl Hall.
Lloyd retired from Dupont after 32 years of service, loved to go hunting and fishing and enjoyed attending sporting and cheerleading events of his grandchildren Jakeb and Haley who meant the world to him. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
He is survived by his wife, Goldine, whom he married September 5, 1970; one son, Brian (Kathleen) Hall of Virginia; one daughter, Ramona (Mark, whom he thought of as a son) Snyder of Belleville, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Allison Hall, Jake Snyder and Haley Snyder; one brother, Herman (Mary) Hall of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; two sisters, Linda Brotosky of Buffalo, W.Va. and June (Brad) Yocum of Little Hocking, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Dr. J.T. Conner and staff and Housecalls/Hospice.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by step-father, Hubert Allman; one sister, Freda Riel; one brother, Jack Hall; father-in-law, Charles Linch; two brothers-in-law, Roy Riel and Lou Brotosky; a fishing buddy, Willard Vance.
Funeral services will be at 1 PM on Monday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg with Carl Radcliff officiating. Interment will be at the Evergreen South Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 on Sunday at the funeral home.

Drexel Monroe Mowery, 53, of Vincent, Ohio, passed away Oct. 4, 2008, at his residence.
He was born in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of the late Drexel M. and Willa Grace Long Mowery. He had worked at Cramer Metals.
Drexel is survived by a sister, Shelly Blind of Vincent, Ohio; and a brother, Bill Mowery of Parkersburg, W.Va.

Mamie Anne Thomas Knotts, 80, of Parkersburg, W.Va., died on the Feast of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, Oct. 7, 2008, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
She was born on Feb. 28, 1928, in Marietta, Ohio, a daughter of the late William Joseph Eide Thomas and Louise Mary Hebdo Thomas. Mamie attended and was an alumnus of DeSales Heights Academy, Parkersburg, and was a homemaker who specialized in delighting family and friends alike with her Lebanese cuisine. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church since the age of three, where she was a longtime Sacristan and served as a Eucharistic Minister for the sick and infirm. She was a member and past president and vice president of the Rosary Altar Society, a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and a past vice president of the Knights of Columbus Council 594 Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are her three children, Stanton C. "Chip" Knotts Jr. (Robin), William K. "Bill" Knotts and Constance L. "Connie" Knotts-Dowler (Brent); one grandson, William T. "Tank" Knotts; one granddaughter, Gretchen A. Dowler; and her special feline friend, "Harvey," all of Parkersburg; seven very special nieces and nephews of her late sister-in-law, Helen Knotts Archer: Patti, Sue, Jane, Steve, Ann, Tim and Kim; and an extraordinary "son," Roger D. Nedeff (Linda) of Vienna, W.Va.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Stanton C. "Stan" Knotts, who died on April 20, 1998; two sisters, Mildred M. Thomas and Elizabeth L. Thomas Hazelett; and an infant brother, William Joseph Thomas Jr.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2008 at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Parkersburg, with the Rev. R. Eric Hall IV officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery. Friends may call from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. today and from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, W.Va., with a Rosary Service at 8:00 p.m. Friday.

Virginia Marie Moss, age 97, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away October 8, 2008 at the Worthington Manor Nursing Facility.
She was born July 26, 1911 in Elkins, W.Va., a daughter of the late Corder H. and Sarah Ellen Bennett Weese. Virginia had previously worked at the American Viscose and was a homemaker. She enjoyed playing cards, crafts, sewing and was a member of the First Christian Church.
She is survived by two sons, Jack M Moss and wife Betty of Parkersburg, W.Va. and James E. Moss and wife Ruth of Bonita Springs, Fla.; one daughter, Judith M. Airhart and husband Bill of Wingate, NC.; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and numerous cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Moss in 1986; one daughter, Dixie Lee Sartor; and one brother, Virgil O. Weese.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2008 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Rev. Sanford W. Downs officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen North Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services Saturday at the funeral home.

John "Eddie" Longfellow, 58, of Parkersburg, “W.Va., passed away Oct. 7, 2008, in his sleep. He was met at the gates of heaven by his loving wife, Charlotte.
He was born July 9, 1950, in Roane County, W.Va., a son of Malinda Rose Longfellow Epling of Reedy and the late Bruce Epling. He was a graduate of Spencer High School in 1968. He was a 4-H All-Star life member and a member of Beech Grove United Methodist Church of Billings and Gihon United Methodist Church, Parkersburg. He belonged to American Legion Post 21 of Spencer. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
He is survived by his son, John Zachary Longfellow of the home; daughters, Billie Perrine of Alaska and Alexandra Sandoval (Justin) of Louisiana; two stepdaughters, Christina Briddick of Texas and Kimberly Johnson (Neil) of Michigan; sister, Melinda Roush (Jack) of Vienna, W.Va.; brother, O.B. Epling (Renee) of Belpre, Ohio; and granddaughter, Emily Sandoval of Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Woods Longfellow in 2007; one daughter, Jennifer Salsberry Longfellow; stepfather, Bruce Epling; several uncles and aunts; and also his grandparents.
There will be no visitation or services. Interment will be conducted at the convenience of the family at Clover Cemetery in Roane County, W.Va.
Lambert-Tatman Funeral and Cremation Services, 400 Green St., is assisting the family with arrangements.
