Biography

Mildred Corine Lowers, 94, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away Monday, May 9, 2011 at the Willows Center.

She was born August 11, 1916 in Wood County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Joseph and Flora Ellen Johnson Hoy.

Mildred retired after several years working in private homes as a housekeeper and caregiver. She was a Protestant by faith, and had attended Epworth United Methodist Church prior to her illness.

She is survived by two sons, Ronald L. (Donna) Lowers of Davisville, W.Va. and Joseph L. (Norma) Lowers of Belpre, Ohio; ten grandchildren, Janis Boyer, Larry Lowers, Steven Lowers, Diane Hovey, Sherry Roedersheimer, Lisa Landis, Michael Lowers, Melissa Keller, Mary Lowers and Mark “Woody” Lowers; fourteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph W. Lowers, in 1947; a son, Denzil W. Lowers; a sister, Kathryn B. Lett; and a brother, Denzil W. Hoy.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2011 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, Parkersburg, W.Va. with Reverend Steve Higgins officiating. Services will conclude with burial in the Lubeck Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
